This is an interactive, online class, for children aged 6+ – parents joining in, is optional!

The class is free, but you do need to book in advance, so we can send the Zoom link to you before class, with joining information.  If you do not receive the link, please check your Spam/Junk folder first.  Booking closes two hours before class begins – if you haven’t received an email with the Zoom link by 30 minutes before class, please text 07747 200 411To book: You must be logged in to book; if you are not a member of MDIY, you will need to create a free Basic account to log in


Please complete the attached medical form before your first class (one for each child) and send to the teacher (details below).

The student participates in this class at their own risk.  When attending this or any online yoga class, livestreamed or pre-recorded, it is up to the individual attending to assess whether or not they are ready to attend the class in which they have chosen to participate.

As the participant, if you suffer from specific injuries or disease, it is best to consult with your physician prior to attending.

By booking, you acknowledge that:

  • You understand that this online class does not cover any liability or loss, personal or otherwise, incurred resulting from participation in the online yoga class(es) offered.
  • During the online yoga class, the student will be asked to complete the recommended activities to the best of their ability.  Please explain to them that if they experience any symptoms, pain, discomfort, or other concerns that may occur or change at any point during the class, they should immediately abstain from the recommended Activities.
  • Please ensure that the student has sufficient space to move around, and the room is clear of hazards
  • Students under 18 should not be in their bedrooms. We recommend that a responsible adult is in the room at the same time; if an adult is not in the room, they should be nearby, and the door to the room should be open

Why is the class aimed at children aged 6+?  In Iyengar yoga we only encourage children from the age of six to take classes. A six-year-old child is usually at school and is used to some sort of discipline and is able to watch and listen when a pose is demonstrated. More importantly, most of them have learnt the difference between their left and right sides. The physiological reason behind the age limit is however more significant. Under the age of six most children’s heads are bigger in proportion to their body, especially their arms, so they should not attempt to do Sirsasana or Sarvangasana because the arms would not be able to support the head, neck and body. Apart from that, some of the bones of the skull have not properly fused. Pressure on the head in Sirsasana could lead to nerve damage if the pose is performed wrongly. Furthermore the big muscles in the body, which help stability, have not developed.
